How It Works - Medical Lien/Subrogation & Expert Lien Patients PDF Print E-mail

Our Medical Lien/Subrogation program allows the injured plaintiff to receive their necessary medical care by agreeing, along with their attorney, to assign a portion of their personal injury claim to IHF for medical care provided.

Innovative Healthcare Financing purchases the receivables from the medical provider and/or facility and we forward our account to the adverse insurance carrier for payment of the medical care and treatment provided.

There are no additional costs charged to the patient.

Overview

Once a potential client, their attorney, or a medical provider contacts us, we review the claim and related records. Once a case is accepted, the following occurs:

  • The Patient chooses from one of our medical providers for treatment
  • IHF pays the medical provider for the services provided
  • The treating physician makes necessary referral(s) for additional treatment (ex.: Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, Diagnostics, or surgical evaluation)

IHF reviews these treatment referrals, and upon approval:

  • The Patient receives the additional treatment(s)
  • IHF pays the provider(s) for this additional treatment(s)
  • The Patient continues with recommended treatment until they reach Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI) or are discharged from treatment by their doctor

IHF will continue to review additional requested treatment as the Patient’s treatment cycle progresses. IHF finances additional medical treatment and care at our sole discretion.

When the Patient completes their treatment, or IHF declines further financing, we provide the adverse carrier notice of our subrogation rights and work directly with them to obtain payment for medical services provided.

Economic Damages Experts, Life Care Planning & Litigation Services

Our Economic Damages Experts, Life Care Planning, and Litigation Services programs are designed for the injured plaintiff and their attorney to obtain the services of economic damages experts, conduct case analysis, mock trials, and other litigation services by agreeing, along with their attorney, to place a charge ("Lien") against their future settlement to be dispersed to IHF for those services provided.

Innovative Healthcare Financing purchases the receivables from the expert and holds them until the patient resolves their underlying legal claim through the execution of the Expert Lien signed by the injured party and their attorney.

There are no additional costs charged to the patient or attorney.

Colossus Complaint Settlement Demand Letters

For those patients for whom IHF provides medical financing, a nurse/paralegal can prepare a draft Colossus Settlement Demand Letter as a value-added, no cost service.  By availing themselves of this free service, attorneys may benefit from having the time to settlement shortened.
